Abstract
Psychotherapy in general has been found to be effective, so also couple and family therapy (CFT). In competition with other interventions (For example individual therapy) the field of CFT should explore the effects on each of the individuals in the families and not only the referred patient. Possible findings at this level could clear ground for CFT. The presentation will present how school and work functioning change from before treatment to after treatment for families in a Norwegian multisite RCT study. This presentation will form the basis for a discussion with the audience on how to measure effectiveness of CFT. Because the available data are including biometric data, family of origin, individual problems and strength, relation with partner, Family/household, child problems and strength, relation with child through the Systemic Therapy Inventory of Change(STIC) it will be possible to discuss different measures. In addition to STIC, the dataset includes the Outcome Questionnaire (OQ45), the health survey (SF-36), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ s.11-17), Becks Depression index (BDI), Becks Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Family Adjustment Device (FAD), Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), providing even more possibilities for discussion on outcome measures.
The workshop will involve the participants in group and/or plenary discussions, depending on the number of participants.
