Abstract

We find that treatment of Psychiatric disorders have become increasingly specialized and individualized, despite the fact that it is hard to find evidence that treatments focused on particular disorders are more cost effective than other treatments. However it is our experience that troubled families in our turbulent times more than ever, needs a systemic and integrative approach in order to heal and maintain good health. There is a high comorbidity between psychiatric disorders and relational problems. We will present our 6-12 week integrative residential intensive couples- and family treatment program within adult psychiatry. Our Treatment Unit has since 2008 in cooperation with William Pinsof et al, Northwestern University, implemented the Internet based patient feedback system STIC (Systemic Therapy Inventory of Change) which is a crucial part of our treatment model. The presentation will contain both the theoretical foundation of an integrative approach and clinical vignettes illustrating our clinical work.
